A Joliet man fired a couple shots in the air to show the mother of his child he wasn't kidding around, police said. Alfredo Oviedo, 34, was charged with the reckless discharge of a firearm and the unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the alleged shooting Sunday night. Oviedo and his year-old sister showed up at the Maserati Drive home of his teenage daughter's mother about 10 p. Oviedo argued with the year-old woman over how she cared for their daughter, police said, and she went inside her house. Oviedo then allegedly produced a pistol and fired twice in the air. He did this to "show how serious he was about the incident," according to police. Oviedo took off in a red Cadillac, possibly with another man, police said.

Alfredo Oviedo’s tracks
A longtime critic of Joliet police has filed suit in federal court, charging officers harassed him and his son in retaliation for his outspoken support of former Death Row inmate Manuel Salazar. The suit also contends police intimidated a defense witness for the younger Oviedo in an attempt to win a conviction on a weapons and obstruction of justice charge. The suit names individual officers and the city of Joliet and seeks unspecified damages for excessive force, false arrest and malicious prosecution. But a week later, after searching the home of Alfredo Sr. Prior to Oviedo's trial, the suit charges, another officer visited the home of a witness in an effort to influence his testimony supporting Oviedo.
The Joliet man took off after making his point, police said.

It's easy to forget why I chose to be with him in the first place. Life will chuck all sorts of bouncers at you. I was an ordinary doctor until I found Medscape. And if you can make it to the Tree of Life and still be with your partner, guess what. Work on myself, not him.
